Adventures in Crochet
via RedLipstick

Crocheted McDonald's meal. This is so inspiring! Reminds me of some subversive cross-stitch kits I want to buy or design myself.

"Sinfully Erotic"

Wheaton College in Chicago has lifted its ban against dancing for students (though square dancing has been allowed since 1996). Also, faculty are now allowed moderate use of alcohol. It's a slippery slope to the 7 circles, and it looks like Wheaton college just took their first step. See you in hell, kids!

Blue Velvet

This just in from Pedro: a glowing recommendation of the Times Square HoJo. Oddly enough, I just heard a rave review of Howard Johnson's lodging near the Grand Canyon from some visiting friends earlier this week.

The Times Square HoJo's resists definition. Cultural hipsters in search of the usual cheap ride down the American highway of bad taste cannot quite get their bearings. The reporters for a Web site devoted to lounge culture penetrated HoJo's during happy hour and retired, shaken. " `Blue Velvet' was a movie," they reported. "This is real."

This reminds me: I keep meaning to make it to the Habitat Lounge at Weber's on Monday nights, which they advertise as "swank night". I bet they have specials on cocktails...

Sheep Shearing Law Repealed in Nevada

While this is more relevant to the upcoming Bad Faith spin off, "Moral Fiber", I think a few wooly details need to relayed to Bad Faith readers:

"CARSON CITY, Nev. - The Nevada Assembly voted unanimously Monday to get rid of an old law that makes it illegal to shear sheep within city limits. The old law, dating to at least 1911, makes it a misdemeanor for "any sheep to be penned, housed or fed for the purpose of being sheared" within city limits. Legislative staffers couldn't figure out why the law existed..."

Sheep have rights too, you know.
